Ruyuan Fluorite Mine, Ruyuan Co., Shaoguan Prefecture
Guangdong Province, China
7¼ by 6 by 3½ inches (18.3 x 15.3 x 8.9 cm). Fluorite crystal 6 by 5¼ inches (15.3 x 13.3 cm). Custom lucite base.
A bright green modified octahedron fluorite set atop a spiky bed of white needle quartz.
Also known as fluorspar, flourite is often transparent, making it valuable in the production of various types of glass. The mineral form of calcium flouride, flourite takes on various hues due to impurities, with the brilliant green specimen offered here as a prime example.
This aesthetic piece comes from a one-time discovery in the early 2000’s and is rarely seen on the market today.
