Elmwood Calcite with Barite and Sphalerite

Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, United States

5 by 4¾ by 3 inches (12.6 x 12.2 x 7.8 cm). Custom lucite base.

This calcite crystal grades from colorless to a warm, golden-sherry hue towards the termination. This specimen is accented with granular barite and crystallized sphalerite.

This sharp, glassy, and twinned scalenohedral calcite specimen is in exceptional condition, making it stand out amongst the mostly damaged specimens that have come from the now-closed Elmwood Mine.
