Description

Bullseye Malachite Block

Democratic Republic of Congo

13 by 11 by 4¾ inches (33 x 28 x 12 cm). 17 pounds (7.7 kg).

Ranging in color from light to deep, rich evergreens, this undulating malachite specimen features rolling crests and valleys with over two dozen "bullseyes".

Malachite is an opaque and banded copper carbonate hydroxide that often forms stalagmitic and/or botryoidal ("bunch of grapes") masses. The most highly sought after specimens display concentric rings of varying sizes, as evidenced by the stunning bullseye patterns seen in the specimen offered here.
