FIRST EDITION OF THE VIOLIN SONATA in G, Op. 96, 21 pages, folio (32 x 24.5cm), fine engraved title by A. Müller, plate number 2581, price in manuscript ("1 rtl. 12 gr."), without violin part, some later pencil annotations, late C19th/early C20th half cloth, manuscript label in the hand of Ernst Rudorff to upper cover, blank first page affixed to blank reverse of title, dust-staining to outer leaves, inner margins of outer leaves strengthened; bound together with the keyboard parts of later editions of the violin sonatas Opp. 24 and 30, the violin parts for these in a separate volume with blue wrappers, bound together with a later edition of the violin part for Op. 96 (plate number 6463); loose with this lot also the violin part of a later edition of Op. 30 (Brunswick: G. M. Meyer Junior)


The violin sonata in G, Op. 96, written in 1812, is the last of Beethoven's ten violin sonatas, and one of the greatest in the repertory.
