FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE, 2 volumes in one, 62 and 67 pages, oblong 4to (24.5 x 31.7cm), two title-pages, two lists of subscribers, printed privilege to first volume, engraved music, manuscript inscription to front pastedown ("Dulces ante omnia Musae 1740"), Dolmetsch Library stamp and pencil shelfmark ("II C 15") to verso of title, red morocco label gilt to upper cover ("Scarlattis Lessons"), contemporary calf-backed marbled boards


RARE. Roseingrave's edition is an expanded version of Fortier's first edition of 1738, and includes twelve additional sonatas (K.31-42), for many of which this remains the primary source. Contained in the first volume is the celebrated "Cat's Fugue" in G minor, K.30.
