4 volumes, 4to (254 x 191mm.), text in French and Latin, half-titles, titles printed in red and black with engraved vignette, engraved additional title and 3-page engraved dedication in volume 1, 140 engraved plates after Boucher, Eisen, Gravelot, Moreau, and others, 30 engraved vignettes by Choffard, 8pp. 'explication des vignettes' and 'avis au relieur' bound in volume 4, contemporary marbled calf with gilt fillet border, spines gilt in compartments with navy morocco lettering-pieces, gilt edges, first plate in vol.4 reattached with old tape, some foxing (particularly on plate guards), extremities slightly rubbed
