Born in Trivandrum, South India, to a family of artists, carvers and sculptors, Kesavan Appukuttan Achary studied at the RamaVarma Institute of Drawing and Painting in Trivandrum. In 1958, he went on to join the Goverment of India Regional Design and Technical Development Centre. Throughout his life he participated in multiple one-man shows, group exhibitions and won many accolades, both at home and abroad. In lots 65 and 66, Achary explores sinuous forms with smooth, sensuous lines. These sculptures showcase the natural beauty of Achary's raw materials and are testament to his sculpting prowess.
