A cloisonné enamel vase with butterflies 

Meiji period, late 19th century


the oviform vase with shorted everted neck, decorated in various coloured enamels and thicknesses of silver wire on a dark blue ground, with butterflies of different varieties and sizes in flight, the shoulder with a band of stylised chrysanthemum heads and karakusa, the foot bordered with lappets, copper-gilt mounts
