Champlevé enamel châsse with angels and saints
parcel-gilt enameled copper
with worn red velvet covered wood core
10 3/8 by 9 by 3 1/8 in.; 26.3 by 23 by 8cm.

This champlevé châsse is decorated with a series of engraved half-length angels within circular medallions, on the front, following a design produced in Limoges in the second half of the 13th century. The back is embellished with appliques of enameled three-quarter length saints and set with glass gems.
