This miniature portrait of William Herbert, 3rd Earl of Pembroke (1580 - 1630), is based on the full-length portrait by Daniel Mytens owned by the Bermuda National Trust and known through many painted and engraved versions.1 Courtier to both James I and Charles I, Pembroke was a great patron of the visual arts, architecture, and literature. The First Folio of Shakespeare's plays was dedicated to Pembroke and his brother Philip.
