Elles proviennent d'éditions tardives du voyage du Capitaine Cook.

Les récits des voyages d’exploration de Cook, menés entre 1768 et 1779, rencontrèrent un tel succès dès les premières publications, par leurs comptes rendus précis et détaillés et par leur exceptionnelle illustration, que de nombreuses éditions et traductions suivirent, reprenant parfois l’illustration d’origine, d’après Webber, Piron ou Hodges.
