We are honored to celebrate a collection of timepieces amassed over three generations by a distinguished Italian family. Passed down from father to son, it is rumored that the present lot was originally commissioned especially for Pope Pius XI, Italian pope from 1922 to 1939, one of the most important modern pontiffs.

Based on our research, the present lot was commissioned by a client who provided the silver medallions for use. The timepiece is registered under the movement number 195'776 and was sold in November 1922 by Patek Philippe.
