Cartier

In the early 20th century, smoking was all the rave in Europe and North America for both men and women. The coming few decades saw a rise in demand for luxury in the art of smoking, and Cartier created elegant tobacco accoutrements during this time including cigar cutters, cigarette cases and cigarette holders such as this example. In the book, Cartier in the 20th Century by Margaret Young-Sánchez et al, there is a similar example of the cigarette holder made in 1912, sold to Jacques Cartier (page 132).
