In the mid 1960s, Rolex introduced a new type of dial to their manual Daytona. At the time it was known as an 'exotic' dial, which the market did not react well to and was only in production for a few years. Today, however, it is a very different story and the Paul Newman is arguably the most collectible vintage wristwatch. Consigned by an important collector, the present example has a aged dial where the lumes are discoloured, the step is clearly visible at 6 o'clock and the serif signatures are very nice and pronounced. The lumes are still reacting under UV and the case has very crisp numbers between the lugs.
