In 1981 Patek Philippe launched the mid-size Nautilus, reference 3800/1. The watch had a reduced diameter and provided an attractive alternative to the already popular 'Jumbo' version. The slightly more conservative case size ensures that this timepiece perfectly fits on a wrist which would not necessarily accommodate the larger, Jumbo size. Over the years, the indexes of the present watch have developed an attractive and consistent patina perfectly matching the hands. In excellent condition with no apparent signs of wear, it is a rare example to find for a watch of such age.
