The Tour Auto Optic 1000 was a long distance car rally race deeply tied to automotive history. Held in 2012, only cars which took part in the 1951 to 1973 editions of the race were allowed to compete. It was an exclusive and classic car rally featuring 5 days of competition driving from Paris to the south of France. As official timekeeper to the event, Audemars Piguet created a limited execution of their iconic Royal Oak Offshore wristwatch.
Fitted with the traditional Offshore case in stainless steel, the watch featured the perfect complication for the race: the chronograph. Used in conjunction with the tachymeter, the speed of cars can be calculated. The watch is made special by the blue numerals on the tachymeter and hour markers, together with red accents on the hands and graduations, with the caseback of the watch engraved with the Tour Auto logo. Created in an extremely limited run of 150 pieces, the watch is in close to new condition.
