Rolex celebrated the 50th anniversary of the iconic GMT-Master line of sports watches by introducing the reference 116710LN, and with it the ceramic bezel. This watch has a feature which distinguishes it from others of the same reference. In its long production run the 116710LN saw three dial variations. The line of ‘GMT-Master II’ text is different to most other examples, with most of the ‘II’ letters printed in the Roman font with big serifs, with some other dials have very small serifs so the ‘II’ appears almost rectangular, and finally a very small amount contains no serifs at all and appear to be stick-like, hence the nickname ‘stick dial’. These watches are exceedingly rare, much more so than stick dials on its predecessor. Furthermore, these dials are only found on the V series of the 116710LN watches which were only made during the year 2009. The 116710LN ran between 2007 and 2019, so to say that stick dials of this reference are rare would be an understatement.
