A Ming-style celadon jade handled cup

Qing dynasty, 19th century

清十九世紀 青玉雕乳釘紋螭龍耳盃


of gui-form, with broad straight sides resting on a pedestal foot, flanked by a pair of reticulated handles each in the form of a sinuous chilong climbing up a network of branches with a stylized peony blossom in its mouth, the body of the vessel with four rows of staggered raised bosses, the stone a warm celadon hue with a faint patch of russet at the base

Gifted to the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn, in 1963 (acc. no. 63.6.33)
