Megaselachus megalodon (formerly Carcharodon megalodon) was a giant pre-historic shark which roamed the open seas, armed with giant razor-sharp teeth. The largest shark to have ever lived, it was up to three times the size of its closest living relative, the formidable great white shark. It is considered to be the greatest super predatory fish of all time, and ranks amongst the largest predators to have ever roamed the Earth.
