Description

The Tooth of a Megalodon

Megaselachus megalodon

Early Miocene to Pliocene

Indonesia

An excellent 5 1/2 inch specimen with intact serrations, a copper-colored bourlette, copper and beige-colored root, and enamel in creamy oranges, pinks, and beige. Some minor losses to a few serrations, otherwise an excellent specimen.

A beautiful specimen, exhibiting the amazing range of colors found in teeth of this fearsome creature.

Megaselachus megalodon (formerly Carcharodon megalodon) was a giant pre-historic shark which roamed the open seas, armed with giant razor-sharp teeth. The largest shark to have ever lived, it was up to three times the size of its closest living relative, the formidable great white shark. It is considered to be the greatest super predatory fish of all time, and ranks amongst the largest predators to have ever roamed the Earth.
