Bleu Nuit and Jaune De Naples Haut a Courroies 50cm Cosmos in Togo Leather with Brushed Silver Hardware, 2020

This Cosmos Hermès HAC Birkin 50 bag is crafted in Togo leather with brushed palladium hardware.

The bag features a tall frame, two sturdy rolled top handles, horizontal interlocking straps, turn lock closure and a signature padlock that opens with accompanying keys. The flap opens to a spacious matching matte Bleu Nuit chèvre lining.

Created in the 1800’s, the HAC is also known as the Haut à Courroies meaning High Belts in French. The original purpose of the Hermès HAC Bag was to transport riding equipment like saddle and boots, and it dates back to production before the Birkin bag.

Émile-Maurice Hermès designed the Hac Bag after the handbags carried by cowboys in Argentina inspired him. The production started in 1892 and became an important piece of the history because the making of the Kelly Bag and the Birkin Bag were based on the details of the HAC.
