Labelled the Forgotten Islands of Indonesia, Southeast Maluku was first settled by the Austronesians over 4,500 years ago. Earrings of this type, without legs or arms, are sometimes referred to as mas batu - the golden stones - and were often decorated with crimson thread or trade cloth. See a similar high-content gold pair illustrated in Anne Richter and Bruce W. Carpenter, Gold Jewellery of the Indonesian Archipelago, Singapore, 2011, p. 84.
Bruce W. Carpenter ,《Gold Jewellery of the Indonesian Archipelago》,新加坡,2011年,頁84。
