These engravings are part of a series of eight, entitled Roman Frescoes of the Villa Negroni. Each plate shows a different wall of the so-called Villa Negroni which was excavated in Rome near the Baths of Diocletian in July 1777. The original series was engraved by Angelo Campanella (c.1748-c.1815) after drawings by Anton Raphael Mengs and Anton Von Maron.
