Grateful Dead

Tekcom road case for a Leslie speaker, used by the Grateful Dead on tour, ca. 1980s

Red rolling road case (29 x 43 x 24’’). With “Grateful Dead” stenciled on front and back, three American flag decals, “Kidd” sticker, splat stickers, “On Halloween the Dead Will Rise Again” sticker, and green tape reading “#117”; as toured.

A much traveled road case. These cases were the foundation of the band’s touring, allowing them to transport their plentiful gear safely from venue to venue. While they didn’t produce the sounds that made the Dead famous worldwide, they were what allowed them to happen.

An indispensable piece of touring equipment, and a silent witness the band’s storied career
