This beautiful Clous de Paris Calatrava is the quintessence of timeless elegance. The flagship collection of Patek Philippe was first introduced in 1932 reflecting the minimalist Bauhaus principle (function determines the form of an object). While design and sizes slightly changed occasionally, the Calatrava elegance remained recognizable over time and throughout the different variations.

The present reference 5119 was introduced in 2006 and followed the earlier reference 3919, which was in production since 1985 and itself the first one with the special hobnail bezel that is referred to as Clous de Paris by the brand. Slender on the wrist, the 5119 only measures 7.2 mm in thickness and has a case diameter of 36 mm. The watch is further equipped with a sapphire crystal display back revealing the beautiful manual winding calibre 215 PS.

Earlier this year, Patek Philippe has introduced its successor reference 6119. Bigger in size, it also has a new movement and more modern design with flat sapphire crystal as opposed to the slightly domed one of the present example, which makes it appear more vintage than the replacement reference.

The present lot is offered as a complete set with Certificate of Origin stamped by the Patek Philippe retailer Zigerli+Iff in Bern, Switzerland. It is further accompanied by its presentation case with outer packaging and has been retained in great condition.
