Two woodblock print triptychs

Edo period, 19th century 


each a woodblock print, the right sheets signed Gountei Sadahide ga, the centre and left sheets signed Sadahide ga, censor's seal aratame, published by Moriya Jihei (Kinshindo), 8th month 1859, and comprising: 

- Sanada Masayuki is the first to cross the Chikuma River (Sanada Masayuki Chikumagawa ichiban nori)

-  The Battle of Kawanakajima, depicting the clash between Takeda Shingen of Kai Province and Uesugi Kenshin of Echigo Province, both clans vying for control of the Kawanakajima plain flanked the Sai River and Chikuma River in northern Shinano Province
