4to (295 x 252 mm). 6 etchings by Henri Matisse and 20 reproductions of his preliminary sketches on blue and yellow paper; lower fore-edge of title-page lightly creased. Publisher's brown buckram, spine and upper cover gilt-lettered and decorated, top edge speckled brown; spine a bit darkened, extremities a bit rubbed, endpapers lightly discolored, fore-edge with some minor foxing. Publisher's slipcase ; very worn and broken. 

No. 924 of 1500 numbered copies, this being one of only 250 signed by both Joyce and Matisse. A copy of the October 1935 issue of The Monthly Letter of the Limited Editions Club, which discusses this publication and addresses the reason for the small number of copies signed by the author, is loosely inserted.
