8vo (213 x 165 mm). Frontispiece and 173 illustrations by E. W. Kemble, photogravure portrait bust of Clemens by Karl Gerhardt with the imprint of the Heliotype Printing Company and with the table scarf visible, title-leaf is a cancel, on p. 13 illustration incorrectly listed at p. 88, "was" instead of "saw" on p. 57, p. 155 with the final 5 lacking, p. 283 a cancel with the engraving redone, leaf 238 a blank, pasted under rear endpaper; closed marginal tear with stain to p. 195, one or two stray spots. Publisher's pictorial green cloth, stamped in black and gilt with portrait of Huckleberry Finn, pale peach endpapers; light finger-soiling to rear endpaper, slight rubbing to extremities, exposure at corners.


First edition, early issue of this classic American novel.
