After achieving maître in 1764, Moreau bought a shop located at rue de l'Echelle -Saint-Honoré which had belonged to his cabinetmaker colleague Denis Genty who had just gone bankrupt. Moreau quickly became a well-known supplier to the court, and often employed other cabinetmakers including Bircklé, Foullet, and Topino, founders Guinaud and Cottin, and gilders Prégermain and Fagard. Active in politics, Moreau was eventually deported to the island of Anjouan as a result of his beliefs, where he ultimately died.
