Johannesburg, Pieter Wenning Gallery, Edward Seago Memorial Exhibition, 1975, no. 38
Edward Seago purchased a villa at Porto Cervo in 1968, an elegant seaside resort located in Northern Sardinia, also known as Costa Smerelda. He explored the area with friends, painting the landscape and often depicting it devoid of human presence. John Erle-Drax, The Marlbourough Fine Art representative commented that the artist always seemed relex when in Porto Cervo. As described by James. W. Reid in his book Edward Seago, The Landscape art: 'Seago's paintings of Sardinia mirror this carefree, relaxed mood. Their colours are cheerful olive-greens, yellow ochres, brilliant whites and vivid blues...' (p. 202)
