Description

Dictador Generations In Lalique 'The Proof Bottle' 43.0 abv 1976

Bottle number 0 of 300, this ‘Proof Bottle' was used as the design for this release and as such will not be commercially available outside this auction. The Dictador Generations is a blend specially created to honour the Lalique partnership. This historic blend has been created by two generations of the Dictador team, Hernan Parra, Dictador Master Blender together with his father Dario Parra. All rums within the blend date from 1976 were aged in American Oak and Port casks. The bottle is housed within this one of a kind gift box created especially for Sotheby’s auction. As such only one such giftbox will ever be available worldwide.

Please note that the below items are included with the lot:

As part of the lot the successful bidder will receive an inclusive three-day visit to Colombia, for two people. The client will stay in the iconic 5* hotel Sofitel Santa Clara, in Cartagena, and will be chauffeured to and from the airport. As part of the experience the guests will be guided round the historic Dictador distillery in the heart of the Colombian jungle to witness the work of the charity and explore the history of the Dictador in its native land.

Whilst there, the two clients will be invited to participate in ‘Dictador Art Masters’ which is an artistic event where some of the most famous and up-and-coming street artists are turning the ghosted Dictador distillery into the world’s most unique graffiti museum.

Nose: One is greeted by tempting aromas of freshly baked banana bread and treacle tart, with delicious and deep fruit notes of maraschino cherries, dried mangos, caramelised pineapple and dried raisins. Complex spices of crystallised ginger, cinnamon and cloves are integrated well with subtle notes of coconut and vanilla which have been acquired from its time aging in American Oak.

Palate: A beautifully layered palate with an initial kick of dark chocolate, liquorice, Spanish leather, and star anise which glide gently into a much welcomed wave of peach flambe, orange peel and Fruit Pastilles. These lighter notes are rounded off by wood polish, honey and stewed sultanas.

Finish: A long finish of cigar box and Christmas spice with a final flourish of fennel and rose.
