12mo (130 x 95 mm). Stipple-engraved frontispiece portrait by Abner Reed after Gilbert Stuart captioned "Pro Patria" at the top and "Washington Benevolent Society" below; light to moderate browning throughout. Contemporary sheep-backed marbled boards; lower joint cracked but intact, endpapers dampstained.


A scarce work aimed at juvenile readers. Rare Book Hub reports one copy offered in 1940 by a bookdealer, and two copies sold in 1918 and 1877 by Anderson Galleries and Bangs, respectively. Worldcat locates six copies in American libraries.
