Description

Nebraska

The Constitution of the State of Nebraska with Judicial Interpretations. Prepared and edited by the Preliminary Survey Committee of the Constitutional Convention ... [Lincoln?]: np, 1919

8vo (224 x 155 mm). Title-page, original grey printed wrapper bound in; first 4 leaves loosely inserted and chipped at margins, "Association of the Bar Library City of New York" stamp to verso of title, first 16 pages tanned, dealer's description pasted to verso of original wrapper. In blue half morocco over marbled boards, spine with blue morocco labels lettered in gilt, pale blue endpapers.

Containing the complete text of the 1875 "Grasshopper Constitution"—named for the swarm of grasshoppers that afflicted the convention. The present text was printed in preparation for the 1919 constitutional convention, where the document would finally be revised and amended, after a decades long struggle to do so. Scarce: WorldCat lists six institutionally held copies.
