8vo (237 x 150 mm). Caption-title; lacking the title-page, pages lightly toned. In dark brown quarter morocco, marbled boards, spine with morocco labels lettered and dated in blue; foxing to upper margin and fore-edge.
Containing the new Mississippi state constitution, as adopted on 1 November 1890, replacing the 1868 constitution put into place during Reconstruction. A vehemently white supremacist text, the constitution established a poll tax, arbitrary literacy tests for voting, the criminalization of interracial marriage, and the segregation of schools. The present volume also contains the ordinances and an index.
