Kurt C. Wegener marchant le long d’une route, un soir d’hiver
inscribed Kurt C. Wegener, of Baltimore, Maryland, president of the Wegener Food Corporation, is a genuine self-made man. He left school at the age of fourteen, worked in farms, then in a grocery store of which he later became the owner. He now owns hundreds of supermarkets throughout America and he supplies candied pig ears for the whole country that he imports directly from Hungary. Married to Louise Waddington-Booth, a Philadelphia heiress, their union only lasted two years due to the difference of their cultural backgrounds. A tortured and nostalgic man, Wegener often takes solitary walks on this Maryland country road where is sic mother used to pick up wood for the stove. He is an extraordinarily hard-working man and his only known hobby is his delightful sic collection of stuffed snakes. (en lower centre)
black ink on paper
48 x 36 cm; 18⅞ x 14⅛ in.
