This was the first of the Harry Potter books to be issued in a large print run, with 750,000 copies being printed in utmost secrecy. It was also the first for which Bloomsbury publishers utilised the power of mass media marketing with the public release of the book at midnight and book signings in numerous locations over the proceeding days. By 2013 the printers Clays had produced a minimum of 6.1 million paperbacks and 1.5 million hardbacks over 141 printings.
