Ex private collection, France, until 2017.
One of several paintings which reproduces a lost portrait of the powerful daughter of Suleyman the Magnificent (r.1522-66) by Titian, believed originally to have formed part of the collection of Bishop Paolo Giovio (1483-1552). Other versions include those at the Pera Museum, Turkey (inv. no. 102); the Courtauld Institute, London (inv. no. 331); and at Lacock Abbey (National Trust), Wiltshire (inv.no.996348).
