Leaf from a Psalter


Illuminated manuscript in Latin on vellum. [Italy (Rome?), 15th century (second half)]


Single leaf, c.285×210mm; (c.180×105mm); the text comprising part of the 5th–7th collects that usually follow the Litany in liturgical manuscripts of the Use of Rome; two fine illuminated initials in gold and colours. The recto somewhat worn; the verso in fine condition


The first lines mention ‘famulo tuo pontifici nostro’ where other manuscripts specify ‘ministro’ or ‘episcopo’, suggesting this manuscript was written for use in Rome.
