A Roman Marble Head of Hermes

circa 2nd/3rd Century A.D.


over-lifesized, his face with broad features, parted lips, and eyes with incised irises and drilled crescentic pupils, his short hair arranged in rows of drilled cheerio-shaped curls, remains of wings above the temples; chin, upper lip, and nose restored in plaster.

Height 32 cm.
