An Egyptian Bronze Figure of Osiris

26th Dynasty, 664-525 B.C.


standing on a rectangular base with his hands emerging from his cloak and holding the crook and flail, and wearing a broad collar, braided beard with curled tip, and the atef-crown with uraei, two uraei suspended from each horn, a figure of Isis in low relief on his back.

Height without tenon 17.5 cm.

private collection, early 20th Century (based on custom-made tapering wood base)
French private collection acquired in the 1930s/1940s, reputedly from Dikran Khan Kelekian
An old label on the back of the proper right plume reads "No. 72".
