A Roman Marble Head of Aphrodite, Eastern Mediterranean

circa 2nd Century A.D.

over-lifesize, her eyes with incised irises and indented pupils, her wavy hair bound in a fillet, brushed back over the ears, gathered in a top-knot on the crown of the head, and tied in a chignon; front of lower lip and proper left earlobe restored.

Height 33 cm.
