after Flaxman, `Sacred to Bacchus` modelled with a seated satyr embracing the shell-moulded neck, a ram's head below the spout, suspending swags of fruiting vines, `Sacred to Neptune` with a triton to the neck and a stylised dolphin, suspending foliage

The drawing for the water vase survives in the Wedgwood Museum archive (no. 4548), the form was supplied to the factory by John Flaxman, Snr. in 1775.  They were copies of cast bronzes which were inspired by the model by Sigisbert Michel, nephew of Claude Michel, known as Clodion.
