Jim Rennert’s figurative sculptures use three-dimensional space to make accessible allegorical assertions about complex truths derived from daily life, especially those encountered in business. As his epigrammatic titles suggest, the sculptures resonate concise, often subtle, visual metaphors of challenge, triumph, and lessons commonly encountered along the sometimes difficult path of one’s career.
Using wit and sophisticated whimsy as well as contemplative imagery, Rennert's sculptures are fun and full of humor as they simultaneously portray profound vignettes about life and employment.
Rennert’s unique form of sculpture has been the subject of articles in publications such as Sculptural Review, American Art Collector, and The Inquirer and Mirror. His work is in numerous private and public collections, including the Governor’s Mansion of Utah, The Colorado Council for the Arts, the Church Museum of History and Art, Salt Lake City, UT and the Granite Education Foundation.
