Introduced in 1989 and produced until 1999, the Rolex GMT-Master 16700 was the first GMT model to be fitted with a sapphire crystal, launching the classic timepiece design into the modern era. The case of the reference 16700 accomodates a 6mm triplock crown, which is slightly larger than the previous 5.3mm one found on the reference 1675. The timepiece is furthermore powered by the caliber 3175 which features a quick-set date and a hacking seconds functionality.
The present example was manufactured in 1996 and stands in very good condition, adequately featuring the reference 16700 engraved on both its inside caseback and between the lugs.
