Launched in 2006 in pink gold and in 2008 in white gold, the reference 5396 is Patek Philippe's modern take on the annual calendar complication. The day of the week, date and month are displayed through three windows for an uncluttered and simple dial design. The reference was released with both a sector dial as the present piece or a traditional layout with applied gold indexes. In addition to the elegant moon phase display, the 6 o'clock subdial displays a 24-hour indication.
This timepiece embarks the calibre 324, the Maison's most famous modern automatic calibre. The annual calendar movements require more components than their perpetual calendar counterparts, making their assembly highly intricate. The present piece's calibre is proudly bearing the Geneva Seal, a high-grade finishing certification which Patek Philippe replaced with their own Seal in 2009.
