WONG TING FUNG 黃鼎豐 | FALLEN LEAVES RETURN TO THE ROOTS 落葉歸根

Depicting the full view of a luxuriant tree from the top crown to the roots underground, Fallen Leaves Returning to Their Roots represents the journey of Chinese workers in the early years who left their hometowns for overseas countries to seek job opportunities and make a living. Facing arduous challenges, many of them eventually lost their lives overseas. Tung Wah Coffin Home, based in Hong Kong as an entrepot, devoted huge effort to assist the deceased Chinese to return home through bone repatriation service, to fulfil the cultural legacy of "fallen leaves returning to the roots". The original work is now painted on the wall of Tung Wah Coffin Home.

Wong Ting Fung has been working in the advertising and design industry for over a decade. His career has been influential to his artistic inspiration. Focusing on black and white collages created mostly with brushes, he usually incorporates illustration, graphic design and lettering to represent the absurdities and contradictions in life, as well as the rich and diversified emotions.

《落葉歸根》畫面從左到右，由茂盛的大樹到埋於地下的樹根，呈現早年華工千山萬水越洋到外地謀生，以命相搏，大部份卻最終不幸客死異鄉，遺體及靈柩經船運以東華義莊為中轉站，經義莊協助得以回到原藉安葬，落葉歸根，為東華三院秉承至今之懷善披遠精神。原作現存於東華義莊外牆。

黃鼎豐在廣告及設計公司任職超過十年，這經歷亦影響了他的創作靈感。他的作品以黑白為主，多數利用畫筆創作，風格融合了插畫、平面設計及藝術字體，描繪出生活中的荒誕矛盾之處，以及層次豐富和變化多端的情緒 。
