Azzedine Alaïa was a Tunisian couturier and shoe designer, particularly successful beginning in the 1980s. The designer was nicknamed 'The King of Cling', and renowned for his 'body conscious' fashion characterised by figure-hugging jersey creations featuring cutaway areas designed to reveal more flesh.
