Anonymous sale, Malaville, Cabinet Philippe Ravon, 23 October 2010.

C. Humbert, 'À vot' bon cœur!', La gazette de l'Hôtel Drouot, no. 36, 22 October 2010, p. 101, reproduced in colour.

In this genre painting, Louis Rossignon captures a typical moment on the Parisian streets during the early 19th century. The shops and restaurants in the background can be identified as La Perle de France and Le Douix - two of the establishments situated on the promenade that surrounded the old Palais Royal, and that were frequented by fashionable members of society. A small group of Savoyards often stationed themselves nearby, in the hope of receiving a few coins in return for creating amusement.
