Despite the adverse weather and his poor health during the journey, Laurens sketched every stop along the way. This view was on the road from Qazvin (then known as Casbinn) to Tehran, framed by snow-covered mountains.
A pencil drawing by the artist of this same view and dated 1848 is in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
