AN EXTENSIVE LACQUER SERVICE FOR TEN

JAPAN, EDO PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY

日本江戶時代 十九世紀 描金漆器一組十人前


comprising two large circular boxes and covers, four circular trays, twenty square trays of two sizes, two serving spoons, ten meshi-wan (rice bowls) and meshi-wan futa (covers), ten o-oo-wan (large bowl), ten o-chuu-wan (medium bowl) and o-chuu-wan futa, ten o-hira (flat bowl) and o-hira futa (covers), ten o-suiwan (soup bowl) and o-suiwan futa (covers), ten o-tsubo (small 'pot') and o-tsubo futa (covers), and ten o-sakazuki (sake cups), all housed in two black lacquered wood chests with multiple partitions (176)
